Experience before college

In high school, I was very involved and was the president of the school. This venture taught me many valuable lessons and allowed me to be a part of many different and very important experiences. Being the president meant I had to work closely with the staff and plan events in which the entire school would participate. Taking on this was putting a lot on my plate, but I love planning events and working with my peers to improve the school. I would hold meetings with the class advisory to come up with ideas for what we would do and what we think needs done. After the meetings, I would need to see what ideas are attainable and how to reach the goals talked about in the different meetings. In this position, I created new spirit weeks to uplift the students during rough times in school, created a volleyball game against junior and senior boys, and hosted a Goodwill donation race against our rival school. My peers and I got the word out so much that my school and community donated enough to beat our rival and also win the entire race around our whole county. These are just a few examples of the events and activities that were completed during my time as president. Being the school president allowed me to see the school as a place to create change, and allowed me the ability to create change in my school and even in the community. I put a lot of work into the position and I believe that position shaped me into the person I am today.
